Ready…set…GO!!
Two more weeks are left until City2Surf!
This year, Reach & Restore Hope is participating in Sydney’s annual fun run by taking this opportunity to support the Australian Indigenous youths in Sydney’s inner city schools.
Reach & Restore Hope supports World Vision’s Sydney Koori Leadership program, which helps Indigenous students from local high schools by 9-week leadership coaching and cultural studies.
To fundraise, we are selling raffle tickets with cash prize. 25% of the total tickets sold will go to the prize winner and 75% of the total tickets sold will go towards supporting Sydney Koori Leadership program.
14 enthusiastic supporters who are participating in the race decided to do more than just running! They are helping us raise funds by selling the raffle tickets to their friends, families, and colleagues. The tickets are sold for $2 each, and if you are a participant in the fundraiser, you are given a book of 50 tickets to sell. If you are interested in getting involved, whether it’s through doing the fundraiser, volunteering for the day, or simply just to buy a few tickets or run as a team, shoot us an email! reachrestorehope@gmail.com
On Saturday, 26 June 2010, we held our very first official event as Reach & Restore Hope and hosted Cambodia Night, a private dinner function, in order to raise funds and awarness for Cambodia. In particular , our aim was to reach out to the AIDS orphans in Cambodia.
Nathan Park, a chef from Sydney’s renowned Casa di Nico, donated his time and culinary skills to cater a wonderful three course dinner for our supporters.
Cambodia Night was especially important for Reach & Restore Hope because it was the first event to present Wat Opot Children’s Community Centre, an AIDS orphanage in Cambodia which Reach & Restore Hope supports. Ruth Ann Abarcar, a co-founder of Reach & Restore Hope visited Wat Opot back in March this year and she was able to share her experience at the orphanage and address the needs of the 80 children and families living at Wat Opot Children’s Community Centre.
We would like to Thank our supporters who took the time to come and support Reach & Restore Hope. We were able to raise $450.00 that night, which will be used to deliver hope to the children and families at Wat Opot Children’s Community Centre.
If you would like to find out more about the issue of AIDS orphans in Cambodia, or want to volunteer at Wat Opot Children’s Community Centre, please contact Ruth Ann Abarcar at reachrestorehope@gmail.com
