Reach & Restore Hope is a non-profit organization started by two former colleagues from World Vision. While we strongly support the causes and visions of the charity giant World Vision, we also wanted to reach out to the smaller grassroots charities that we had either worked for or visited. In addition, we wanted to focus more of our attention to the issues that interest us the most hence our own Reach & Restore Hope was born.
We selected three charities to support based on their mission statement, the work they do, their transparency, and our personal connections. So the three charities we support, we’ve at least visited or worked with them long enough to build the rapport and trust. They are: Wat Opot Children’s Community Centre in Cambodia, Yonsei Girls’ Home in Seoul, Korea; World Vision Australia. As you can see, the charities we have selected are not all from 3rd world. In fact, only Wat Opot Children’s Community Centre is from a country that suffers from extreme poverty. We plan to expand and reach out to more charities in the future, but at this point, we wanted to work with the ones we know well and trust.
Please note that because Wat Opot & Yonsei Girls Home are small orphanages that care for children, we support all of their causes and needs. However, with World Vision Australia, we are only involved in their local program, not with their overseas programs. While we personally support World Vision’s overseas sponsorship program, as a charity we decided to support specifically for the Indigenous Australian community development program called Linking Hands. This is due to our passion to reach out to the Indigenous communities and also because the program has proven to be strongly effective.
